The Witches WIP (Work In Progress)

These characters are a part of the complete scene composition of this project. Soon, I will be able to unveil the final image with these characters. The completed scene should convey strong emotions or humor.

Cyber Character Game Concept

The character in the image below was an early concept from a video game demo that I made with ON3D Studios. This was the last project where I made concept art, models for both a character and several props, and controlled the direction of the art’s creation and design.

In the images below you can see all the sculpting details of the character. The character was entirelly made in zbrush.

Monkey Out of Space Project

This project was one of the short films created by ON3D studios, a simple but funny idea. Here, I worked sculpting the details in the face of the monkey using color textures painted by hand in Zbrush until getting the final look.

I composed the preview in Photoshop with renders from Mental Ray, and created a space background with Photoshop.

The hair was created in Maya using a Hair Shape plugging and then rendered in Mental Ray. Face details were sculpted using Zbrush.

Zombie Character Project

In this project I worked on the modeling, texturing lighting and final composition. Working side-by-side with animators, riggers, and 2-D VFX artists on this short film about a lazy zombie was an amazing experience. This project is very special to me, primarily because of the dedication and hard work from everybody involved in it. See the complete Project here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45074AOYcdw

All the objects and the backgroud in the scene was modeled and textured using Maya and Zbrush. The objects in the front and the backside were rendered in Maxwell, using our own lighting and shaders. The character was rendered using Mental ray in Autodesk Maya and finally composed in Adobe After Effects.

Below are some views from the character and renders showing the surface detail and textures.

People usually don´t see all the little details in a character due to fast motion on screen. So here you can appreciate them.

The posters over the walls in this following scene, were made by Alberto Luna: a great Illustrator who worked in this project with me.

Here are other views of the room for you to appreciate. You can see now all the objects around which were modeled to create the scene. I wanted to build a fully chaotic environment, but I had to put each object one by one in precise order.

At same time, the kitchen was modeled and organized using Maxwell for the Lighting and Rendering. We used Mental Ray for the motion objects and the character. The final composition was made using Adobe After Effects.

Here some images without textures only the model surface. Rendered into keyshot and Zbrush.

INK Project Character

This was a short film project that I wrote when working at ON3D Studios. I created the character. Unfortunately, this short film is a story with no ending, whose character I hope to see alive on a screen someday. Nevertheless, it was a great experience modeling and sculpting this guy.

I make the character´s Lighting and Rendering using both Maya and Mental Ray with textures extracted from Zbrush and Mudbox. Later on, I composed the image rendering layers into Photoshop, and added the painted ink splashes and the background.. Below are some views of the character during the Zbrush sculpting process.

Here are some details from Zbrush whille this character was in the T pose mesh. I prefer using the Transpose Tool in Zbrush. In my opinion, this tool provides more control when rigging.

ON3D Characters Project

This was the first project born from the passion I had while working as Art Director and 3D Generalist for ON3D Studios. The idea was to create a couple of characters based on lead roles from the studio such as the Art Director, the CEO, and other professionals. I made the characters directly in the 3D environment without preview concepts or sketches (even though they are usually required). All modeling, sculpting, lighting and composing was done by me. The character´s rigs were made by Jaime Castilla: CEO and character rigger of ON3D Studios. The completed project is the culmination of  a lots of hours of hard work.

This image was created 3 years ago.  The idea was for a minimal environment with a color tint that looks a little vintage, but shows different tones following the company´s identity color code. Below are some of the character´s views and sculpted details.

This character was called Undead Jaime (in order to represent the CEO´s passion for games). This interpretation was done with my own line style.

This next character represents the concept artist for ON3D Studios: Alberto Luna. Santini was the name given to the character who also happens to bare a strange resemblance to Alberto. Below are some views of the model and sculpted details- both made completely in ZBrush.

Here are some T pose detail images extracted from Zbrush. I think in general the character looks better in Action Pose than T Pose, but as you may already know, it is necessary for the means of the production process.

The following character  represents me. This guy was created from a fast idea about a comedic character that also had to look skillful. We just wanted to have a good time doing this project. This one has also been  the main character of another project in the company.

I didn't want to create a deep level of detail on this character because the final image wouldn´t have required it. However, the face did have to be made more detailed for another project using this character.

The last character from this project is the Zombie: aiming to represent all the lazy moments in the day-to-day work environment with ON3D Studios.

The character was painted and polished for another project where it was used in a little short film made by the company.

Oh, by the way, let me show you where the action takes place. This is the stage made with some library models and a few models from my imagination. Made in Maya with lighting from Mental ray.
